Foi uma cerimónia equilibrada, com os Óscares a irem em várias direcções e a serem distribuídos pelos favoritos da noite. Mas foi o filme dos Queen a levar mais estatuetas douradas.
Bohemian Rhapsody (4), Roma (3), Black Panther (3) e Green Book (2). Foram estes os filmes que acabaram por ser os principais vencedores da noite. Outro vencedor de dois Óscares, tal como Green Book, foi BlacKKKlansman.
Vice acabou por ser o grande derrotado da noite: nem Christian Bale foi o Melhor Actor, nem Sam Rockwell repetiu o Óscar para Melhor Actor Secundário (ganhou em 2018, com o filme Três Cartazes à Beira da Estrada). O filme que conta, em forma de paródia, a vida de Dick Chenney só conseguiu um prémio técnico: Melhor Caracterização.
